David Alfaro Siqueiros's walk-through mural wraps the vaulted former convent refectory in stacked flame forms, swirling geometric shapes, horizon bands and fans of perspective lines meant to be read by a viewer in motion. Siqueiros began it in 1948 while teaching a mural workshop to U.S. war veterans at the Escuela Universitaria de Bellas Artes, and left it unfinished after a dispute with the school's director over funding.
